Carlin Dunne, piloting the Ducati Streetfighter V4 Prototype will be in pole position for Sunday’s “Race to the Clouds” at Pikes Peak. Dunne scored the best time during all qualifying sessions. Dunne’s teammate of the Spider Grips Ducati Team, Codie Vahsholtz qualified in second place in his category with the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak and in third place overall. Dunne is the first to ride the Streetfighter V4 Prototype, which will compete in the Exhibition Powersports Division and clocked the best time overall (4:09:550). Teammate Codie Vahsholtz will ride the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak edition in the Heavyweight Division.
The Streetfighter V4 is derived from the Ducati Panigale V4, stripped of its fairings, and fitted with high and wide handlebars. The motorcycle also features a high-performance 1100 cc Desmosedici Stradale engine. The production model of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 is expected to be launched sometime in 2020, with possibly an official unveil at the Ducati World Premiere later this year. The Streetfighter V4 will share the engine with the Ducati Panigale V4, and the four-cylinder 1100 cc engine belts out 211 bhp of maximum power at 13,000 rpm and 124 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 rpm.
The 97th edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, also called the “Race to the Clouds,” marks the world premiere of the Ducati’s new Streetfighter V4 in prototype form. Ducati holds several titles at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, with the Italian brand crowned winner eight times in all, in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and in 2018.
