With Halloween only days away, Dodge has announced two appearance packages for the 2022 Dodge Challenger and Charger. The Hemi Orange and SRT Black options take these two performance-oriented Dodges’ exterior styling up a notch and are appropriately on theme for Spooky Season.
Orange You Gonna Celebrate the Hemi?
First up is the Hemi Orange appearance package, which features an orange and black color scheme inside and out and is available on rear-wheel-drive Charger and Challenger GT and Scat Pack Widebody models. While the Halloween theme seems of-the-moment, this trim package really pays homage to the classic Hemi engine’s orange-painted block, an iconic piece of automotive muscle introduced in the 1950s.
The badge accents, brake calipers, and a tracer stripe highlighting the vehicle length Gunmetal striping are all rendered in orange. The Scat Pack Widebody gets orange Brembo six-piston calipers paired with carbon black 20-inch Warp Speed wheels, while GTs are equipped with four-piston Brembo calipers with medium-gloss black 20-inch wheels.
Inside, there is orange stitching throughout, including on the dashboard, door panels, center console, seats, and steering wheel. Additionally, the bolstered seats have a monochromatic embroidered Dodge logos on ’em. Scat Pack Widebody models add a “392” instrument panel badge. Black-out interior accents include the cluster trim, shifter body, steering wheel bezels, cup holder, and vent rings.
The Dark Knights
Shifting our focus to the SRT Black package newly available for the Charger and Challenger, this option transforms SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye variants with a blacked-out treatment on the exterior. The SRT Hellcat exterior badging on the grille, fender, and spoiler (a decklid piece for Charger models) changes to a midnight gray metallic. Charger SRT models feature black nickel exhaust outlets, which come standard on the Challenger SRT.
If this setup seems familiar, it’s because the SRT Black package is already offered on the Durango SRT 392 performance SUV. However, here on the Challenger and Charger, buyers will pay much less for the same SRT Black appearance kit—just $695. What gets borrowed sometimes can be regifted back (sort of), and so while the Durango is lending its SRT Black package to the Charger and Challenger, that pair will soon lend the Durango their Hemi Orange option. It’ll be available on the 2022 Dodge Durango R/T and R/T Tow N Go trims. Details and availability on the package to arrive in the first quarter of 2022. As for the Hemi Orange package you can buy now, which includes the Performance Handling package with Brembo four-piston calipers and 20-inch wheels, it costs $2,995 on the Challenger and Charger GT trims and is available to order at dealerships; the price drops to $1,500 on the Scat Pack Widebody models.
