Motorists could save themselves hundreds off repair bulls by using a dash cam. Dash cams are becoming increasingly more popular in the UK as they can protect drivers in the instance of a crash and even be used as evidence. They can also help prevent the owner from becoming a victim of a crash for cash scam. There are also a number of car insurers which will offer motorists a discount for using a dash cam.
However, there is a mother feature which motorists can utilise which could also save them some cash on the roads.
Tech experts are advising drivers to engage the parking mode when they leave their vehicle to be able to record if there are any issues, break-ins or scrapes.
Parking mode is a feature on a lot of dash cams sold today and uses motion sensors to detect movement around the car and record when it senses any interference.
This evidence could help the driver if they need to make an insurance claim as well as act as a deterrent to thieves.
Heather Yates, in-car technology expert at Halfords can function like witnesses if your car is bumped, scraped or broken into.
She said: “[Dashcams] offer drivers greater peace of mind and protection for when they are not there, and having them placed prominently on a car windscreen can even discourage bad behaviour by making people more accountable for their actions.”
If your car was bumped or scratched by another driver who drove off and you didn’t have a dash cam then you may not be able to track or find them.
This way, you have a defence and also an extra layer of security.
