Codemasters has begun the slow reveal of GRID’s car list. The first portion shines the spotlight on a dozen vehicles from a variety of disciplines.
We first learned of the GRID reboot exactly one month ago. Shorn of any subtitle or numbers, it will focus on fast-paced racing across circuits, city streets, and point-to-point tracks. What’s more, players will have a new competitor to face off with in the game: Fernando Alonso and his FA Racing esports team.
Codies is promising over 70 cars at launch. For now, here are the first 12 to be confirmed:
- Auto Gallery Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) – Tuner
- Audi RS 3 LMS – Touring
- Chevrolet Camaro SSX Concept – Stock*
- Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Modified – Stock
- Chevrolet Corvette C7.R – GT
- Dodge Challenger SRT Modified – Stock
- Ferrari 488 GTE – GT
- Ford Focus TC-2 – Touring
- Ford Mustang Mach 1 Modified – Stock
- Pontiac Firebird Modified – Stock*
- Porsche 911 RSR – GT
- Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR – Touring
Many of these we’ve already seen in previously-released images. The Camaro SSX and Pontiac Firebird are both GRID Ultimate Edition exclusives as well. Of this pack, the Audi RS 3 LMS is the big surprise, as it’s new to the franchise and hasn’t appeared in any screenshots yet. The Camaro Z28 Modified and Ford Focus TC-2 may or may not be based on similar cars from Grid Autosport.
Tuner cars make a return with Auto Gallery’s strong R32-era Skyline. We’re excited to see what other cars Codemasters has up its sleeve to flesh out that particular category.
The GT and Touring categories seem to be getting the most love, with multiple current race cars joining the ranks.
Codemasters is promising more reveals ahead of the GRID launch on September 13. Stay tuned for more over the summer months.
