Not many people are into the fact the new Supra is basically a BMW Z4 underneath. There is at least one upside, though: BMW tuners offering performance upgrades for the car. Famed German tuner AC Schnitzer just launched a whole line of accessories and power enhancements, and they sound pretty enticing.
“BMW technology built into the vehicle enables us to integrate our core competence into a Toyota model for the first time,” reads the tuner’s site. “We are doing this with immediate effect with the AC Schnitzer range for the Toyota GR Supra.”
The offerings are extensive. There’s an engine ECU flash nets 400 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque that comes included with a three-year warranty. There’s also a set of adjustable coilovers lowers the car up to 1.5 inches. Additionally, the company offers its own muffler, and four different sets of wheels.
AC Schnitzer has designed its own aerodynamic add-ons, including a splitter, a carbon fiber rear wing, and hood vents. Cosmetic upgrades include a pedal set, paddle shifters, and a repainted plastic engine cover.
It turns out there are some upsides to the Supra’s BMW heritage, after all.
