The new BMW X1 is available in two variants xLine and M Sport, with petrol and diesel engines respectively.

BMW has announced the launch of the next-gen X1 at the BMW Joytown festival in Bangalore. The SUV is available in two variants: xLine and M Sport, with prices starting at Rs 45.90 lakh.

The new BMW X1 is based on the FAAR architecture. The SUV is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. Its wheelbase has also been extended by 22 mm.

The exterior design of the X1 has evolved over the years. The SUV gets a larger kidney grille with reworked LED headlamps featuring L-shaped LED daytime running lights. It also gets a new front bumper, and redesigned door handles. BMW has also freshened up the rear of the car.

On the inside, the new X1 features a curved display that sits atop the dashboard, similar to the new 7 Series. The screen houses a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Besides this, the X1 gets features like adaptive LED headlights, an automatic tailgate, park assist, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and ADAS. Sports seats are offered as standard, while massage function (front seats) is available in the M Sport variant.

In India, the new X1 is available with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 132 BHP @ 4,400-6,500 rpm and 230 Nm @ 1,500-4,000 rpm. The M Sport variant is offered with a 2.0-litre diesel that outs out 148 BHP @ 3,750-4,000 rpm and 360 Nm @ 1,500-2,500 rpm. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.
