The GMC Hummer EV SUV has been globally unveiled. The new Hummer EV is said to go into production in 2023 and will come with a host of customisable options.
General Motors (GM) has taken the wraps off its all-new Hummer EV SUV. While the vehicle is expected to go into production from 2023, interested customers can reserve the electric SUV starting immediately.
The Hummer EV measures 4,999mm in length. It has a wheelbase of 3,218 mm and a turning circle of 10.8 m.
The new GMC Hummer EV will be offered in four variants: 2, 2x, 3x and First Edition. The range-topping First Edition will also come with an optional ‘Extreme Off-Road Package’. Prices for the new Hummer EV start from US$ 79,995 and go up to US$ 110,595 (equivalent of Rs. 59.68 lakh – Rs. 82.51 lakh), exclusive of taxes.
The new Hummer EV has a design similar to that of the old H2 and H3 models. It has a boxy silhouette, rugged looks and a distinct front end. The SUV also features removable roof panels and off-road specific features and equipment. The First Edition variant comes with 22-inch alloy wheels, step-assists, floor liners and underbody protection.
The Extreme Off-Road Package further adds features such as underbody armour, front elocker, rock sliders and UltraVision2 with underbody cameras among others. The off-roading package come with with 18-inch wheels and 35-inch OD MT tyres.
On the inside, the Hummer EV comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 13.4-inch touchscreen head unit and a host of driver-assistance technologies. The vehicle will come with a host of customisable options as well.
Coming to the powertrain, the Hummer EV uses GM’s ‘Ultium Drive System’. This electric powertrain is said to produce 830 BHP, allowing a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in a claimed 3.5 seconds. GM estimates that the powertrain is capable of producing up to 15,591 Nm.
The GMC Hummer EV is claimed to offer a maximum range of 482 km from its 20-module battery system. However, the exact technical specifications of the battery pack are yet to be revealed.
