Lexus looks to be joining the EV arms race—one growing more competitive by the day—judging exclusively from the teaser video released ahead of its March 30th concept car reveal. While we don’t know anything official, the teaser does make some strong suggestions.
The concept appears to sport two electric motors, one at the front and the other at the rear. It also looks like the battery will be mounted on the floor of the vehicle, which seems, again, to follow the trends we’re seeing in across the board. The video does show this futuristic concept will have a steering wheel, albeit a heavily stylized one.
This won’t be the first futuristic electric concept from Lexus. Keen readers will likely remember the Lexus LF-30. While that concept was decidedly futuristic, it also looked to be full of technology that would be hard to implement in a high-volume production car. We wouldn’t be surprised, however to see some of the elements of the LF-30 make their way onto the upcoming concept.
We’re sure many of our questions will be answered when the sheet’s pulled back on this concept on March 30, but still, we’re curious how this car will dictate the future of Lexus’s product line. If this reveal comes with a bold proclamation as we’ve seen from Volvo, that will be a huge deal.
