Porsche's EV estate range now complete, from £73,000 – all the way to £140,000…

If you read our Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo GTS review at the backend of last year, you’ll be aware that the intention was for the Sport Turismo to mirror the rest of the Taycan range. Well, that’s just become official, with the full suite of Sport Turismo models now available on the Porsche U.K. configurator. In case you did miss that review, the essence of the Sport Turismo is that it offers the practicality attributes of the SUV-inspired Cross Turismo, without the slightly jarring, odd off-road aesthetics. To our mind, this makes it arguably the pick of the Taycan range.
For a start, you get much better boot access thanks to its more versatile rear tailgate, plus an increase in rear boot capacity (up to 446 litres with the rear seats in place, or 1,212 litres when they’re folded). Passengers are better catered for, too. Those in the front gain an extra nine millimetres of headroom and in the back there’s another 45 millimetres to play with. At the same time, the driving dynamics of the Sport Turismo are, to all intents and purposes, unchanged. If you can detect the extra weight – typically around 30 kilogrammes more than the saloon – you’re in the wrong job. The effect on range and performance is similarly negligible or completely non-existent.
It also comes with a new feature: a panoramic roof with Variable Light Control. This has a liquid crystal layer that’s divided into nine sections, and each one can be individually controlled to make specific sections or the entire roof transparent or opaque. When set to the latter, the interior remains flooded with light, and it’s said to have much better heat-reflective qualities than a simple sun blind.
The best bit is the cost increase is also negligible. The uplift over the saloon is just £800, which means a range that starts at £73,650 for the 326hp, rear-wheel drive Taycan Sport Turismo. That rises to £84,830 for the 435hp 4S, then £104,990 for the aforementioned GTS, with 517hp. After that the Sport Turismo gets really serious: a Turbo comes with 625hp and costs £117,670, while the Turbo S – with its overboosted 761hp and 2.8 seconds to 62mph potential – is £140,080. So, more space and better flexibility with effectively the same dynamic aptitude as the saloon, all for just a few hundred pounds more. You’d be mad not to, wouldn’t you?
