Prescott Hill Climb Sunday Service | PH Review

A drizzly morning wasn't enough to dampen an epic day of hill climbing

It’s anniversaries galore in 2023. While we’re mighty proud to be celebrating our 25th lap around the sun, Gloucestershire’s Prescott Hill Climb is on its 85th. The perfect excuse for a Sunday Service, then, and you lot didn’t disappoint, with hundreds of PHers battling through the morning drizzle for a fantastic day of hill climb action at Prescott’s Car Club Day supported by eBay.

Those who booked a space on the hill were treated to a greasy course early on. Getting the power down at the start wasn’t easy, and even those who tried to get a clean getaway with launch control were squirreling about on the opening runs. A good excuse to lower the pace for a first trip up the hill and learn the route. For such a short course (just 1,031m), there’s a great mix of fast sweepers and tight hairpins with steep inclines right on the apex. Thankfully, the tarmac dried up come the afternoon in time for the final runs of the day.

Whether you drove up the hill or spectated, our trip to Prescott was action packed from the get-go. While there were plenty of PHers taking to the hill, we were joined by several other car clubs that guaranteed non-stop track activity throughout the day. And, as ever, there was a mega mix of machines in attendance, from Ariel Atoms and Caterhams to Ford Fiesta STs and Mini GPs. You may have also noticed a black Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk5 parked in our glamours PH gazebo, which you’ll be seeing a lot more of in the coming weeks.

Next up on the Sunday Service schedule is The Motorist in Leeds on 7th May, which you can sign up to right here. In the meantime, we’ll see those of you who’ve signed up for our (now sold out) track evening at Brands Hatch next Tuesday 11th April. Track day season is finally here!
