According to a media report, the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny could be manufactured in India. The made-in-India Jimny will reportedly be exported to Africa and the Middle East. At present, the car is built at Suzuki’s Kosai plant in Japan.
The Jimny was unveiled in June 2018. It is based on a ladder frame chassis with a 3-link rigid axle suspension and part time 4WD with a low range gearbox. It has short front and rear overhangs.
The Jimny is powered by a 660cc, turbocharged 3-cylinder and a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine producing 100 BHP. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
