The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be based on the new Sigma pure-EV platform.
Tata Motors left everyone in awe when they revealed the Tata Sierra concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. Now, two years later, it has been reported that the ‘Sierra’ moniker could make a return as an all-electric SUV.
The report states that Tata Motors has green-lit the Sierra EV project. It will be the company’s first dedicated electric vehicle and will be based on the new Sigma pure-EV platform.
The Sierra Concept was inspired by the original Tata Sierra from the 1990s. It combined the design highlights of the 90s icon with Tata’s model Impact 2.0 philosophy. We hope the new EV will retain some of the design elements of the concept.
Another all-electric offering that has been in the news recently is the Nexon Coupe EV. Unlike the Sierra, it will be based on the X1 platform and will share its powertrain with the Nexon EV.
