Team owner Robbie Buhl locks up driver Alex Keyes for 2019 ARX2 campaign

Alex Keyes hopes to be doing more celebrating from the top step of the podium in 2019.

With the 2019 Americas Rallycross season less than two weeks away, Buhl Sport Detroit has confirmed that Alex Keyes will return as driver of the No. 4 Racing4Detroit ARX2 entry.

Keyes finished third overall in the ARX2 Championship standings a year ago and landed on the podium three times. Two of those times — the final weekend doubleheader at Circuit of the Americas — Keyes finished on the top.

“I’m excited to be back with Buhl Sport this season and ready to pick up where we left off on the top step of the podium,” Keyes said. “There are a few new racetracks that I’m looking forward to getting out on and learning. It’s been a long offseason, but round 1 is finally here!”

The ARX season kicks off on June 8-9 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. The course is a 10-turn, 0.7-mile circuit that will be set up in the keyhole portion of the track. That should allow fans to see the entire course.

“Alex really showed us his ability last year and proved himself, not putting a wheel wrong in adverse conditions,” team owner Robbie Buhl said. “Especially after winning both races to end the season, he earned the job.”

The No. 4 car was headed for Ohio on Monday for a preseason shakedown. The Racing4Detroit team is anxious to get back out on the track and in front of the fans to show off what Keyes describes as “an exciting new sponsor,” DRiV Inc.
