Following the Porsche 911 GT3, Porsche is releasing another model in the 911 range. This latest 911 wears the beloved GTS badge and comes with all the performance goodies you’d expect. While the high-performance Porsche is not as potent as the latest 911 GT3, the GTS sports more power than the Carrera S. The GTS also has bespoke suspension tuning and some lightweight features that should help you shave some time on your next track day.
The 992-generation Porsche 911 GTS sends 473 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque through either a seven-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed PDK automatic. When equipped with a PDK, this 911 can hustle to 60 mph from a standing start in only 3.1 seconds. You can opt for a rear-drive-only coupe or cabriolet GTS or an all-wheel-drive coupe, cabriolet or Targa. In case you missed the subtlety, the Targa GTS is only available in all-wheel drive.
For fixed-top GTS models, Porsche is finally letting you add lightness to your GTS. The lightweight package includes carbon-fiber bucket seats, lightweight side and rear windows and a lightweight battery. All in, this will save you 55 pounds. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but every pound saved makes the car perform that much better.
Controlling the active dampers is the Porsche Active Suspension Management system. That system is tuned specifically for the dynamics of the GTS-badged models. This GTS is 10 mm, or 1 cm, lower than the standard Carrera thanks to this revised suspension. Stopping the Porsche 911 GTS are the brakes from the 911 Turbo.
The interior features Race-Tex material covering various touchpoints like the center of the seats, door handles, steering wheel rim and armrests. There are also embroidered seat belts to let everyone know you opted for the GTS. Porsche has also updated the infotainment system to included Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.
Porsche is planning on shipping the GTS models early next year starting at $138,050. Obviously, that price goes up when the top goes down, and cabriolet models start at $150,850. The Targa is the most expensive thanks to its all-wheel-drive exclusivity and starts at $158,150.
