Drivers have been warned that travelling over speed bumps at high speed can cause thousands of pounds worth of damage, according to a social media influencer.

The YouTuber Bladed Angel often posts videos to his YouTube channel to advise motorists on good driving practices, and information on the latest models.

In one of his most recent videos, Bladed Angel said that drivers of all vehicles should be mindful when going over speed bumps.

He explained: “I read a disturbing amount of comments from non-car owners or SUV people who say stuff like ‘I have an SUV, I’m immune to speed bumps’.

“There is no such thing as immunity, especially when it comes to suspension. You could be on a four-foot lift, but you will still take some damage if you go over these too fast.”

Slow down and save a life.

“It’s still embarrassing how many people think that they’re a good driver when they still arrogantly think that they can just plough around a two-tonne cage.”

First implemented on the roads of Chatham, New Jersey in 1906, the first speed bumps were introduced to the UK in 1983.

Designed to encourage motorists to slow down, some experts believe that they can cause health issues to bicycle and motorbike riders.

According to a report from Citroen, published in October 2019, there are over 42,000 speed bumps on the country’s roads.
