{"id":50274,"date":"2023-09-30T07:19:25","date_gmt":"2023-09-30T07:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myroadnews.com\/?p=50274"},"modified":"2023-09-30T07:19:25","modified_gmt":"2023-09-30T07:19:25","slug":"shortened-the-gear-lever-of-my-hyundai-getz-mt-by-doing-a-simple-diy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/myroadnews.com\/news-features\/shortened-the-gear-lever-of-my-hyundai-getz-mt-by-doing-a-simple-diy\/","title":{"rendered":"Shortened the gear lever of my Hyundai Getz MT by doing a simple DIY"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Even with the driver seat fully back, I have the large factory gear knob rubbing on my leg\/knee bone.<\/h2>\n<p><strong>BHPian tooSavvy<\/strong> recently shared this with other enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<p>My 2006 Getz 5 speed manual has been a &#8216;real pain&#8217; (.. in my Knee!) because, even with the driver seat fully back, I have the large factory gear knob rubbing on my leg\/knee bone.<\/p>\n<p>I decided a quick cure would be to shorten the gearstick + fit a more compact &#8216;ball&#8217; knob&#8230;. Not prepared to pay the high price asked for &#8216;tuner style&#8217; knobs on the Web.<\/p>\n<p>I bought a machine wheel knob off China eBay [\u00a33 UKpounds] and drilled the centre out to 12MM (diameter of factory gear lever) and drilled 75% deep.
